About

Our mission is to host events for our local community to celebrate and unite people through arts and music.

Throughout the year our church provides a venue for talented musicians and artists, some locally based and some from further afield.

For 10 days from 30th September to 9th October, St. Mark’s Festival will transform our halls and church into a place where you can experience a whole range of exciting events. The festival is a celebration of culture with art exhibitions, musical workshops, drama activities and concerts.

About Us

The benefice of St Mark and St Swithun is passionate about responding to need in acts of loving service through the activities we organise and support. We are thankful that through members of our congregations we can support initiatives and make connections with community projects in Croydon, Sutton, and the Diocese of Southwark.

Currently we run a Dementia-welcoming community café with support from the Alzheimer’s Society . Our latest initiative is a support hub for Ukrainian guests and their sponsors.

We are actively involved with and support the Purley Food Hub, Croydon Churches Floating Shelter, Nightwatch, Croydon Refugee Centre and Purley Overseas Trust. We are committed not only to give of our time and expertise but also our finances. Among the local charities we have supported financially are Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders, Reedham Children’s Trust,  Barnardo’s, The Children’s Society to name just a few.

As a church we are blessed with active scouting and guiding units that use our facilities to offer an exciting range of activities. We are also pleased to support a number of community groups and small businesses that use our halls and we are proud to offer space for the Muslim community for Jummah Prayers.
